Physical therapy equipment is used in combination with other types of physical therapy in the process of rehabilitating a person that has suffered an injury as a result of an accident or other debilitating conditions. Physical therapy has specifically been designed to help endurance, increased strength, improve overall motor skills, restore muscular flexibility, and reduce pain. From spine motion to muscle injuries physical therapy is used for various types of Physical Therapy Equipmenttreatment as well as medical problems.

Using equipment during physical therapy will be determined by the patient’s specific requirements in regards to their condition and treatment. There are different types of equipment available for each specific need, and the type that will be used will be determined by the physical therapist providing the treatment. With this in mind, this brings us to all the different types of physical therapy equipment that is available for treatment purposes such as, devices that are specifically designed for helping a person with daily activities, to devices that aid a person’s inability to move a certain part of their body meaning they need equipment does all the work.

There are some very complex types of equipment that are used as well as some of the more common physical therapy equipment that is used such as, CPM units or (Compressive Passive Motion), exercise bike equipment, diathermy accessories, compression therapy units, biofeedback units, and inversion tables to name a few. There are other types that are used for exercising the legs and hands such as elastic bands and exercise balls. Many of these items are very easy to use when properly instructed to do so, and can be very effective at allowing a person to regain mobility in areas were needed.

Physical therapy equipment has been developed to allow comfort and flexibility meaning that most of the equipment listed above can be adjusted to suit every individual’s specific needs. There are other types of equipment such as lifts and slings, electro-therapy ultrasound units, and traction units that can be used for what they were specifically designed for allowing those individuals to experience comfort as well as increased mobility. Much of this equipment will need specific direction from your physical therapist and in many cases cannot be used otherwise. The benefits of using physical therapy equipment can be experienced over time as a person continues to use this equipment on a continual basis.

There are many different places you can purchase therapy equipment, and the most common being a rehabilitation center. Depending on what you’re being treated for you will see that there are many different types of devices available for many different conditions a person may be rehabilitating from. All of these things need to be taken into consideration if you’re deciding whether or not you need to have a specific device for a condition in which you may be recovering from. Understanding physical therapy equipment and what types of devices are available, you will have a better understanding of what you may need to help you with your rehabilitation needs.
